So I have finally made my way back here. Please excuse the week long silence, I do have a nice long list of excuses - the main one being burst pipe during our
cold spell and a well that had to be replumbed completely. I am blessed with such a wonderful group of people to lend hand in need I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am for each and one of them !!
Sunday started with no running water which is fairly common with my drafty well house and no heat lamp (long story) - we get slushy pipes quite often but they also thaw out pretty readily with a small utility heater placed in the well house. Water spraying everywhere in the well house revealed a burst pipe in an elbow of our old plumbing - I learn something new all the time - this time how to turn off the water coming from the well by disconnecting the breaker box inside the well house. Quick check in the barn - uddered up doe that was not due until today yet showing signs of labor and contracting. Forecast for the day - high of 27 (with wind chills of much less) and snow front on its way. What a great timing, Christie ! Long story short, at the end of the day I had water again, completely redone plumbing, insulation in the well house ... and I was completely overwhelmed. I have once said to my husband that I am not ready to leave Oklahoma as long as we have our church and church family and I will say it again. I am not used to people dropping what they are doing on my account and to be readily available to help when needed, but I may just start getting used to the idea, because that is exactly what kind of church we have. A very small unit of just a few families but they were all here helping - getting material, putting the mess back together, the ladies bringing hot meals .... all this in frigid cold weather and with smiles on their faces :) I pray God would soon provide an opportunity to repay such kindness but for now I rest in the sweetness of Christian fellowship and thank the Lord for putting these folks in my path. We have always been quite blessed with good church homes and families and looking back I appreciate and miss them all. I am daily comforted with the thought (and evidence) of God's provision and faithfulness.
We still have no babies, thought Christie had me seriously fooled all day Sunday to the point of staying up in freezing barn and watching the snow fall on our pasture. Those of you who are local friends know Christie is very large and we expect high multiples when she kids. She had quads last year but lost them to a fight and late term abortion. She has been contracting on and off all week and obviously quite uncomfortable with her size in late gestation but she is healthy and acting fine. Lost plug a couple of days ago but no signs of active labor yet. She is technically due today, but we are patiently waiting for the Lord's timing :) I know several are waiting with me to see what she has and how many, please keep her in your thoughts for safe and uneventful delivery. This girl is very special to me and I hope all goes well. Have a blessed weekend, everyone !!
