I will say honestly I was not as prepared for winter as I should have been. But it looks as if we may be able to surf on God's grace of a milk Oklahoma winter into spring :) I felt for sure if we had such glorious January that February would make us feel it - and, of course, I have 5 does due in February - yet, we keep enjoying this wonderful weather with temperatures in the high 50's or higher and often so sunny, we take our jackets off and I am lured into lazy afternoons outside sitting around watching pregnant bellies and dreaming of babies. My bulbs have now officially sprouted and I have planted strawberries a friend blessed me with. I think I can almost smell spring in the air - yet 3 weeks of February to go and it is usually our coldest month.
This winter has been easier on our budget - less bedding at night, not as much propane used up, as well as on our labor - no breaking frozen throughs and water buckets, no frozen pipes and less mucking in the barn. We have been able to catch up on some outside projects, clean up the yard, organize shed and clear some junk piles that posed as a major eye sore for years now. New hoophouse for chickens is almost up and we have not had as many critters housed indoors as we usually do. Our fireplace has set bare this year ... just a different kind of winter and it sure made our life easier, praise the Lord.
Some pictures just because - a snapshot of the marvelous Oklahoma weather that keeps drawing us out and invites to hang out ... well, perhaps at a good spot with a view like a hale bale :) My sweet Remy unusually serious - must be the cowboy hat and tought guy pose.
